Black Pepper

Sri Lankan black pepper, locally known as Gammiris, is widely considered one of the most potent varieties of pepper in the world. Sourced from the tropical wet zones of the island—including Matale and Kandy—Ceylon pepper is scientifically proven to contain 2–6 times more piperine than pepper from other regions. This high piperine concentration gives it a signature "bite" and a robust, penetrating heat that is balanced by delicate floral and citrus notes. Whether used as whole peppercorns or a fine powder, it is a cornerstone of Sri Lankan cuisine, providing the essential "dark heat" for meat curries and the famous spicy Black Pork Curry.
